(Sigil)

Sigil had technically lied to his brother. At a time it would have bothered him, they never kept secrets. He might have told him the truth. If that was he and his mother weren't lying to him. He might not be a mind reader, but he could tell if someone was lying.

Maybe mother just didn't want to say anything in front of Glyph. I'll ask her whenever Glyph isn't around. She might say something then. Sigil thinks in hopes that they aren't keeping secrets.

He wanted to know more about Wintercast and Banesblood. There was something Wintercast wanted to tell him, but he left before anything was said. The problem was if he went back, the same thing might happen like last time. Before he went Sigil wanted to know if anyone, he could talk to without being pulled into a scroll, knew.

As dusk draws near its almost time for their mother to awake. His brother doesn't usual awake until couple hours after, so Sigil believes it will be the perfect time to ask his mom. He had stayed up all day in case his mother got up for a drink or a bite to eat in the middle of the day.

As Sigil sits on his fur blankets reading his family scroll. He reads the title over and over again and quietly repeats it to himself.

"The Dagger of Banesblood, the Dagger of Banesblood, the Dagger of Banesblood..." Over and over he repeats quietly to himself.

He wonders if she know anything about Banesblood's dagger. He has seen it before, but he didn't know how powerful it was. Sigil wants to know what else it does.

Once Sigil hears his mother's footsteps he opens his door and goes out to greet his mother. However, when he sees the black dragons back he notices it was smaller than his mother.

"Good morning, Brother." Glyph's voice greets.

"Glyph!" Sigil's surprised voice replies, "You're up early."

"I wanted to go out for a small morning hunt, do you want to join?" Glyph responds looking back at Sigil smiling.

"Yeah, sure." Sigil shrugs. "What we hunting?"

It had been years since the two twins had hunted together. Maybe Sigil might be able to see if his brother knows anything.

"Maybe a squirrel, sheep, cow, pig, I don't know; Whatever we can find." Glyph answers, smiling and standing in front of the door ready to go.

"Sounds good let's go." Sigil says smiling.

Glyph opens the door and they lift off into the air together. Just as they used too when they were little.

************

Sigil and his brother sat in the forest, Glyph chewing on part of a deer, and Sigil on another.

"So Sigil what have you been up too? We haven't talked much at all in a year or so, what's up?" Glyph asks cleaning his face clear of the meal.

"Eh-not much. I've been reading mostly, thinking and just getting myself all sorted out. I haven't been exactly myself for a little bit." Sigil explains, "And you brother?"

"Helping mother, since someone has too." Glyph tells Sigil bitterly. "Also, I've been studying with the Queen. She wants me to possibly take over father's position in the army."

"Does she now? Our queen has never asked much of me..." Sigil looks off towards the direction of the castle wondering why that was.

"Maybe if you were more involved in the family she would, "Glyph states taking the last bite of his breakfast.

"I've been trying to learn more about our history. I'd say I'm pretty involved."

"Yeah you even want to know about Banesblood and Wintercast." From the look he gives, Sigil can tell he had just said something he shouldn't have said.

"Do you know something, Brother?" Sigil questions his brother.

"N-No. I-I d-d-don't," Glyph stutters.

"I can tell when you are lying. You stutter when you lie." Sigil points out.

"Sigil, I would never hide anything from you." Glyph tries to reassure his brother.

Sigil gives him a suspicious look and shakes his head. "What do you know Glyph?"

"Nothing, I don't know anything." Glyph says annoyed.

"Glyph?" Sigil questioned, pushing his brother too far.

"I SAID I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING SIGIL!! BACK OFF!" Glyph snaps and flies away from him.

Glyph had never been mad enough to yell at Sigil. He never expected him to do that. Sigil looked at his brother and watched him fly away. He didn't expect his twin to be so defensive about it unless he knew something.

Why doesn't he want to tell me anything? What is he hiding from me? GRRR...maybe mother will answer me. Sigil thinks to himself. He lifts off to go back home.

************

"Mother do you really not know anything about Banesblood or Wintercast?" Sigil asks, as his mother finishes eating her fish.

"No I don't, now Sigil can you please leave? I have to visit the Queen. Glyph will be going their soon for finals. I need to speak with her about it." She gets up and leaves without looking back at Sigil.

Sigil watches her leave with a cold glare. He growls when he no longer sees her. Sigil stomps off and heads out of the house to go to the library.

************
He sits in the secret library not reading just thinking. Thinking about Banesblood and Wintercast, about what they had all said to him, but mostly about how his brother snapped at him.

Wait...maybe, I don't need them to tell me anything. Sigil remembered reading about the bloodkeepers. If you perform a ritual you could summon one of them. Maybe Sigil could get them to answer his questions.

Sigil quickly looks for the scroll in which he read the sacrament in. He finds it and opens to the ink that told how to summon someone.

**************

According to the scroll it was supposed to take a while so he kept speaking the words one was supposed to speak.

The small fire he had started in order to do this had started to die. Sigil wondered if this was supposed to happen, or if he would need to start another fire; As the last of the embers faded Sigil watches with frustration.

He curses under his breath and stares at the fire not knowing what to do. As he leans over a flame sparks to life. He steps back to let the flame grow, instead a huge black fire starts from the ashes.

Sigil flies back trying to get away from the black smoke. "What the-" he yells in surprise.

"Sigil." A quiet ghostly voice whispers from within the black fire.

The fire slowly starts to die and leaves its haunting black smoke. Sigil has to squint to see her, but he can make out NightWing dragoness. She steps out of the flames and was standing in front of Sigil. She was a black NightWing with dark purple under scales. Her dark violet eyes looked at Sigil closely. Her slender body is crouched low as if she were about to tackle Sigil.

"W-Who are you?" Sigil asks frantically.

"I wanted to skip the introduction, but if you must know, it's Wraithscreamer." Her soft voice replies with a slight hiss. "No need to tell me your name Sigil."

"How? How do you know m-"

"Sigil? Are those really the questions you want me to be answering?" She interrupts. "What you should be asking is when should I kill the Queen, who are the Bloodkeepers, and what on earth does Banesblood have to do with that nice little dagger your brother has."

"Wait kill the Queen?"

"Glad you asked about that." She comes close to Sigil at the point where he has to look down to try not to his snout on hers with his. "We need her dead."

"We?" Sigil mutters.

"You..." She fixes her words quickly. "You need her dead."

"Why?" Sigil asks staring up at her.

"She's is not a strong leader you would be much better." She whispers in his ear. "I can help tell you when to do it. All you need is The Accursed dagger." Wraithscreamer says into Sigil's right ear

"What do I need to do?" Sigil responded quietly.

"The Princess and the Queen need to be dead. Your brother has his finals tomorrow right?" She doesn't wait for a response. "Yes, that's when, she'll be in her chamber room after. Unguarded you will then do what has to done: But first you must steal your brother's blade that he is keeping from you." Wraithscreamer says.

With those last words, She disappeared into the shadows never to be seen by Sigil again.
